Orbital Eye in Berlin!

And we’re there! On the way to the Pipeline Technology Conference (PTC) 2022 at the Estrel Berlin, Alexander Blauw and Arnaud van den Berg already encountered the first pipelines.

Looking forward to meeting old contacts and new people at the PTC!

Orbital Eye in the Pipeline Technology Conference (ptc) 2022

In less than a week the Pipeline Technology Conference (ptc) 2022 will already start! We are looking forward to visiting Berlin and meeting experts in the pipeline industry.

Next week Wednesday the 9th, at 9 am, Alexander Blauw and Arnaud van den Berg will give a presentation in which they will present the results of two operational deployments of Orbital Eye’s satellite-based monitoring solution CoSMiC-EYE: one deployment in Trinidad and Tobago, and one deployment in the Netherlands.

We hope to see you there!

Monitoring environmental crime from space!

In the Netherlands, a lot of ground-moving actions happen daily, of which some involve contaminated soil.

The National Police Politie Nederland and the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport are tracking down and enforcing environmental crimes but this is a time-consuming and difficult task.

Science [&] Technology, Orbital Eye B.V., Sobolt, and 52impact developed “TerraVisie Space Surveillance” for the Police and ILT. By combining satellite based radar and optical data with Machine Learning algorithms, TerraVisie can determine if soil displacement took place in an area, and if so, provide insight into what happened.

Orbital Eye Goes Paris! 🇫🇷

This month, Orbital Eye has started another project with GRTgaz, where we will be monitoring GRTgaz’ pipeline network in Paris. Since there is a lot of traffic in Paris, it takes field inspectors a lot of time to monitor the pipeline for Third Party Interferences. With our monitoring solution, the inspectors now will be alerted when an activity starts close to the pipeline, and they can inspect the activity by analysing the high-resolution optical imagery. This way, they can inspect the pipeline corridor from the office, and only need to go into the field when an activity needs to be checked on-site or in case an intervention is needed.

In 2021, Orbital Eye successfully demonstrated the CoSMiC-EYE monitoring technology on a rural part of GRTgaz’ network. We are looking forward to now also demonstrate our capabilities in the most urban part of France!

New colleagues in the Orbital Eye Team: Martti Kaipiainen & Alessandro Marzo

As Orbital Eye keeps growing, we are happy to announce that we welcomed two new colleagues this month, Martti Kaipiainen and Alessandro Marzo! 🎂

Alessandro Marzo was already part of the Orbital Eye team, as he did an internship in 2021. Last December, he graduated from his MSc in Applied Physics at the Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna. We are now happy to have Alessandro on-board as a full-time colleague! Alessandro will work on making our technology even better through the further integration of Artificial Intelligence.

Martti Kaipiainen graduated from the Tampere University in Finland, majoring in Software Production. After university he has worked as a full-stack developer, focusing mainly on business-applications on the web. In addition to software development, he has also worked in the field of architectural visualisation periodically. Outside of work, Martti spends his time hiking, bouldering and rope climbing. Martti will join the software development team to further develop our customer interfaces, working closely together with our mother company Science [&] Technology.

Welcome to the team Martti and Alessandro, we are happy to have you both on-board!

Orbital Eye covered in Pipeline Technology Journal

We are proud to be covered in the latest edition of the the Pipeline Technology Journal!

In the article, written by Sven van Haver and Alexander Blauw, you can read about the operational performance results of our monitoring solution CoSMiC-EYE, based on several projects and studies conducted in 2020. The article can be found via this link.

The results that are described in the article have been confirmed in 2021 as well by several of our customers that are now applying our technology in their day-to-day operations. If you want to read more about the performance of our solution in recent projects, for example with Defensie Pijpleiding Organisatie and Enagas, please send an email to info@orbitaleye.nl and we will be happy to provide you with more information.

Orbital Eye at SpaceTechExpo in Bremen

This week, Orbital Eye can be found in Bremen! We are part of the ‘Innovatiemissie: Bremen’, organised by the NSO – Netherlands Space Office. Today, we had a very interesting day where we met all the fellow participants of the ‘Innnovatiemissie’ and exchanged ideas with several companies from around Bremen that are active in the energy and maritime industry, as Arnaud van den Berg pitched our monitoring solution at the BITZ Bremen Innovation and Technology Center.

Tomorrow and Wednesday we will be present at the SpaceTech Expo Europe to learn all about the latest developments in Space Technology. Send a message if you’re there as well and we can meet for a cup of coffee!

Orbital Eye’s Partnership with Skywatch explained

We would not have been able to develop and offer our monitoring services to our customers successfully without the longstanding partnership with SkyWatch.

In this blogpost from Skywatch, you can read all about how Skywatch and Orbital Eye work together to ensure a smooth provision of high-resolution optical to our customers! We look forward to many more years of fruitful cooperation!

Pauline Liaume joined Orbital Eye

Orbital Eye keeps growing, as this month we welcomed another new member to the team, Pauline Liaume.

Pauline worked for the past year as a Young Graduate Trainee for Earth Observation Political Analysis and Engineering Management at European Space Agency – ESA – ESTEC after graduating from a Master of Science in Space Studies at the Katholieke Universiteit te Leuven, where she specialised in Space Law, Policy, Business and Management. Pauline also holds a Master in European Law from the University of Toulouse 1 and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). In her free time, Pauline spends her time windsurfing and playing the cello.

We are sure Pauline will greatly contribute to the growth of Orbital Eye in her roles of both Earth Observation Data Analyst and Contract Manager. Welcome Pauline, we are happy to have you on-board!

Orbital Eye featured in the ‘Algemeen Dagblad’

“Many brilliant ideas excel in simplicity and raise the question why it hasn’t been around for a long time. In this column we portrait startups and their genius ideas”

This text can be found above the page in last Saturday’s edition of the AD.nl, with an interview given by Sven van Haver and Arnaud van den Berg, in which we talk about the ‘genius idea’ behind Orbital Eye B.V. and explain why our technology should indeed be a widely adopted technology.

It’s great to see that our company and technology has been picked up by one of the largest newspapers in the Netherlands. We hope that our Dutch followers enjoyed the read. In case you didn’t read it yet, the article can be found via this link.
