Satellite-based monitoring of TPIs and methane-emissions for The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago
Next to satellite-based monitoring of Third Party Interferences in pipeline corridors, Orbital Eye also monitors assets of pipeline operators for possible methane emissions using satellite data! For this, Orbital Eye works together with GHGSAT, a Canada-based company, providing high-resolution remote-sensing of greenhouse gas from space.
In the past years, we have monitored the pipeline, and several assets of The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) to detect Third Party Interferences and any possible methane emissions. Especially for remote areas, satellite-based monitoring is an efficient monitoring method, as it does not require on-site presence. In case a Third Party Interference or an emission was detected, personnel of NGC went on-site to take mitigating measures.
In this case study, Orbital Eye, GHGSAT, and The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited present how NGC has adopted satellite-based monitoring, along with the results, and the value this has brought to NGC!
In the next years, NGC will continue to monitor its assets for Third Party Interferences and methane emissions using satellite data – staying at the forefront of using innovative technology to keep the islands of Trinidad and Tobago safe, and keep the environment clean!
